Q. What is an International Student?
A. International Students are considered those students who apply for or receive a temporary student visa under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada). International students arrive from abroad, to study in Canada, who is typically have not received their high school education in the Canadian educational system
Q. What is the Application process for International Students in Canada?
A. To apply to Stanford International College of Canada for admission, international students must complete and submit the admission application online and forward all required documentation and a $300.00 application fee, to Stanford International College of Canada.
The Required Documents to apply for admission into Stanford International College include:
- A copy of High School Diploma or higher (i.e. College or University)
- Proof of identification and status
Q. What is the acceptance criterion for International Students?
A. To be accepted or admission to Stanford International College of Canada, International Students must submit the $300.00 application fee, all required documentation noted above and achieve a successful score on the Aptitude Assessment.
Q. What is a Proctor and how do I write the Aptitude Assessment while abroad?
A. A Proctor is a non-related, professional individual (selected by the Applicant) who agrees to act on behalf of the College to observe the Applicant during the writing of the Aptitude Assessment. The College will send the password to access our online Aptitude Assessment directly to the Proctor once we receive the required application documents from the Applicant.
The Proctor oversees the completion of the Aptitude Assessment and observes the Applicant throughout the Assessment to ensure it is completed honestly and ethically. Once the Applicant has completed and submitted the Aptitude Assessment, the Proctor immediately forwards an email to Stanford International College of Canada, to inform the date the Assessment was submitted.
Q. How soon will I know whether or not I am accepted to the College?
A. Stanford International College of Canada will communicate in writing, the results of all international applications, within 10 business of receiving the Aptitude Assessment from the assigned Proctor.
Q. Where do I obtain an Application for a Study Permit to Canada?
A. For those students coming from abroad who wish to study in Canada, an Instructional Booklet and Application for a Study Permit in Canada may be downloaded from www.cic.gc.ca The process of the Student Visa application can range in length from 1 to 6 months. As such we encourage all International Students to apply for your student visa as early as possible.
Q. What is the process for the payment of tuition fees for Diploma programs?
A.
- After receiving confirmation that the student has been accepted into the College, 25% of the tuition fee is due via bank draft, international money order or major credit card.
- In return, we will issue a receipt and an official Letter of Acceptance indicating the amount paid. In the event that the student is denied a Canadian study permit, the tuition fee is fully refunded.
- Upon receiving a study permit (student visa) the balance of the fees are due prior to the start of classes.
Q. How can I obtain English or TOEFL upgrading?
A. Should you require additional English upgrading either before or during your studies at Stanford International College, please contact us directly to discuss your specific needs.
Q. Do I require Medical Insurance Coverage?
A. Health insurance is not mandatory and although obtaining a Study Permit to Canada is not contingent on proof of health insurance coverage, it is strongly recommended that students obtain health coverage. Information on the costs of health insurance may be obtained from www.ingleinternational.com or www.studentguard.ca.

Mature Student
Applicants who are 19 years of age or over by the first day of class, and who lack the academic admission qualifications, may be considered for acceptance to the college as mature students. Each applicant will be considered on an individual basis and acceptance will be determined through the admissions application, interview, the results of the ABMT aptitude assessment and an evaluation of previous post-secondary education experience. Mature applicants must meet all program specific prerequisites. Those applying as mature students and having no documentation of Grade 12 education must supply, if requested, proof of age, such as a copy of an official birth certificate or driver's license.
