Sherri is currently registered in Stanford's G2-G3 Gas Techicians Diploma Program

In 2004, I went to school to get my Medical Administration Diploma, through skills upgrading as you need to have a 'College Diploma' in this day and age. I graduated in 2005, and continued working in an Administrative position for different companies in the health field. I was laid off, and after much soul searching I decided to try a differrent avenue as I was tired of the ' office politics', and I could see that office work was getting harder and harder to get, especially with a lot experience (over 20 years), for good pay.

My husband does heating and air conditioning, and over the years, I have gone to work with him and help him out. I job shadowed him for a couple of weeks, to see if this was something I would really like to do. I also searched on the internet and did a couple of different aptiude tests to see if it was something that I could handle, and something that was achievable. I then went to Northern Lights and spoke with them about getting training and changing careers through 'Second Careers'. After many discussions, they sent me to Vocational Pathways. I did the job research and they were impressed at the fact that I had done job shadowing. When I went to get all the paper work/contract signed, I was told that I was the only person that they've had, that has done as much research and going over options and job shadowing as I had. I enrolled at Stanford International College and started my course on May 11, 2009. I am enjoying the school and the instructor Dale. It is nice to be at a place where there is  hand's -on work so that you can apply the theory and practical together to get a better understanding of the concepts that you are learning. I spend almost as much time, if not more on re-reading and doing homework as I spend in class.

After graduating my program at Stanford my goal is to get more experience working with my husband and the company he works for, and then sub-contracting out for awhile, then opening up our own company. That is our 10 year goal.

MD Mohe is currently registered in Stanford's Industrial Automation Diploma Program

After achieving a diploma in Engineering I got a job in the plastic and rubber manufacturing industry and then in the automotive industry sector. For the past 8 years I was employed in mechanical and electrical field and work directly with automated control equipment. My passion has always been to learn and design through the use of PLC programming in industrial automation. Finally one day while in conversation with close friend he mentioned to me he knew of a college that was offering a Diploma Program in PLC right in the Toronto area by the name of Stanford College. So I went online to visit Stanford's website then called to make an appointment and met with a campus councilor.

From my first visit to Stanford College, they made me feel right at home. There admissions staff is very well versed and friendly. They gave me a tour which included the class-rooms and labs and even introduced me to my potenial instructors and piers. I was impressed by their professionalism and dedication. Beacuse of my background in automation industry I am somewhat familiar with PLC hardware but wow they are teaching so much more that I expected. My instructor and the principal at Stanford College are very friendly and helpful in every aspect. By completing the PLC program at Stanford College it will allow me to take my passion and turn it into my profession.

Thank you all at Stanford
